Our Events
Each year trustees and volunteers at Friends of Everton Park work together to deliver a range of free and fun events for families, individuals, locals and visitors alike all with the aim to encourage people to enjoy our beautiful park.
Everton Park has the most stunning scenes with the best view of the city – it is also brimming with history and heritage and buzzing with the bees from our flagship wildflower meadows. What better backdrop for events such as seeds of hope, ‘walk for life’, Donkey Rides and ‘The Blue Run’.
We hold annual events such as scattering and harvesting of our wildflower seeds, our 45 minute walk for life and our primary school fun run as well as ‘The Blue Run’ in memory of Joseph Lappin. This year we added a few new events which hope to become a regular feature in our events calendar – in June we held a family fun Teddy Bears picnic. This was a free event thanks for funding from National Lottery Awards for all. Children were armed with their favourite teddy bear – with maps in hand as they trecked across the park in search of letters hidden to spell out the names of two famous bears! All children received a small teddy bear prize as well as a chocolate treat and families laid out there picnic blankets to enjoy a picnic within the park. This was great for locals and visitors to come together, have fun, get to know each other and enjoy the beauty of Everton Park.
As well as the bear hunt this year we also worked in collaboration with Arts Groupie CIC to bring our heritage trail to life. This was an amazing experience and blend of street theatre, history and fun and it was all for free again thanks to our funding from awards for all. Participants were led on an eventful tour by a docker who also introduced them to key historic figures – Molly Bushell, Prince Rupert and Kitty Wilkinson
